Bronze Prize AOI Images 35 (New Talent)

I am very pleased and proud to say that I was recently awarded the Bronze Prize at the AOI Images 35 competition in the New Talent category. The competition columnised with the release of the Images 35 annual (out now) and an exhibition of selected works.

My face along with some words are also in the annual. If you interested, grab a copy!

The Images 35 exhibition, featuring some of Britain's brightest and best illustrators (and me), is at Bankside Gallery, London from 26th August - 2nd September, Monday - Sunday, 11:00 - 18:00 (FREE ENTRY). It has some fantastic work exhibiting, I heartily recommend it.

Mona Lisa

100 years ago today the Mona Lisa was stolen form the Louvre museum by Vincenzo Peruggia. Peruggia hid in a broom cupboard until closing hours the previous day and walked out the museum with one of the world's most famous paintings hidden under his coat.

I tried just working in tones for this piece to capture the aesthetic of the 1910's. I don't think it's entirely successful but I do like my interpretation of Peruggia, probably something to do with his moustache (I like drawing moustaches).

D&AD Talent

Hello again, two posts in two days better not make a habit of it. This is probably of not much interest to many of you but the D&AD contacted me recently and invited me to put up work in their talent portfolio category. If you want to check it out that would be grand, some of the other work featured is also worth a look, if not I'll catch you next time.

Eastwing Illustration Agency

I'm very pleased to say that I have just joined the ranks of Eastwing Illustration Agency. It's been in the works for a while but finally I can announce it to the world, or rather the very small section of the world that visits this corner of the internet.

Something entirely unrelated to work: I turned 22 yesterday. I learnt that having 22 candles on a Birthday cake is close to a health hazard.

P.Y.O

P.Y.O!!! Every summer I have the privileged of picking wild and grown strawberries in my garden, as well as raspberries, blackberries and peas (my personal favourite). I have very fond memories of going to strawberry fields as a kid and spending an hour picking, and eating that evening's pudding. So I encourage everyone to P.Y.O!!!

A big announcement is coming up soon, it's been a killer keeping it quiet.
